When it comes to the work of redemption and transformation, nothing is more effective than a living example, and The Christian Center's Maintenance Supervisor, John Clark, is just that.
John's responsibilities largely entail supervising the men's work therapy programs and the general maintenance of facilities, which include the warehouse and seven multi-level buildings. This gives him daily opportunities to build relationships and share his personal story.
His work experience, as well as his past life, uniquely qualifies him for his ministry at The Christian Center. John has served time in an Indiana prison. It was there that he was introduced to the transforming love of Christ and wanted it for himself. This choice was life changing. He left prison a new man, earned a college degree from Ball State University, and gained valuable on-the-job experience in maintaining the large grounds and extensive facilities of Anderson University.
John regularly encourages the men with whom he works, "Your past does not have to define who you are. Look at me. God can do something new in your life, if you let Him." He will tell you, "I always want to be involved in ministry. I understand that this job is a gift from God, and it's a privilege for me to serve here."
In addition to his work with The Christian Center, John is also currently serving as youth pastor for Central Wesleyan Church in Anderson.
