When people experience brokenness in their lives, there are
things of the spirit that need to be restored. Faith. Hope. Trust. For those
who have experienced extreme disappointments, serious hurts, rejection and
personal failures, these things do not come easy. Fear stands firmly in the way.
We believe that a stabilized life requires reconciliation to
God, self, and others. Chapel provides opportunities for these relationships to
be restored. It's a safe environment where faith, hope and trust can be
rebuilt. And because we also believe that establishing a Biblical foundation is
necessary for maintaining an addiction-free life, chapel attendance is a
requirement of anyone who is in the Men's Program.
Chapel services are led by a diverse group of ministers and lay
leaders from many different denominations.
These groups work closely together to maintain a consistent and focused
message centered in the redeeming Gospel of Jesus Christ. A core Chaplain Team of dedicated volunteers,
residents, and staff have committed themselves to building Christian community
and directing teaching themes through a monthly meeting. Chaplain Team participants provide a
consistent presence within The Christian Center community through regular
volunteering, preaching, and pastoral care.
Because many of the men have lived on the margins of society,
chapel gives them the opportunity to learn how to be comfortable interacting
with a community of believers. Residents
have many opportunities to serve in various roles in chapel, using their
God-given gifts—they lead worship, read
scripture, offer prayer, and share testimonies. Our chapels are centered deeply in
discipleship, and provide our residents with connections in local churches helping
them find a church home when they become independent again.
