With many blue collar jobs being farmed out overseas and failures in the U.S. auto and other industries, it's no secret that Madison County's formerly GM-driven economy has been hard hit. Many families who once enjoyed an easy living are now struggling to put food on the table and to provide clothing and other basic needs for their children.
While one of the goals of The Christian Center's retail ministry is to be an efficient, profitable operation, returning financial resources to the ministry, it is important to note that there is another important goal. By design, we intend for the retail ministry to be an easy way for someone in need to provide for themselves, while at the same time, contribute to the needs of others in similar circumstances. The Christian Center's retail ministry is a wonderful full circle program that enables people to help others while also helping themselves!
For those in proven financial crisis, many thrift store items are made available at no cost through use of vouchers distributed through our Community Assistance program. When those with vouchers are introduced to the affordable prices for children's clothing and other necessary items available through The Christian Center's thrift store, many of them become regular thrift store shoppers. And that is the hope! While they are providing for themselves and their families through their purchases, they are also contributing to the retail ministry, which in turn, helps meet the needs of more people.
The kind of satisfaction gained when someone is able to help another person, even while they are yet struggling, can contribute to a new sense of dignity and self-worth. It can be the first step towards healing and finding a new path in life.
Please see our Goods Donation page for more information on donating to our Retail Ministry.
This is The Christian Center's retail ministry. This is God's work of restoration where…
…Healing Begins Now!
