One of the most heart-breaking and stressful things for a parent is when they hear their child say, "I'm hungry," and they are unable to feed them. And some of the loneliest moments for an elderly person are when they have nothing in the refrigerator or pantry, and no money with which to buy food until the next social security check arrives. There are definitely empty cupboards in Madison County. The dining room ministry of The Christian Center has increased 21% in the past year. Hunger lives in our backyard. Happily, so do compassion and generosity.
Due to the generous spirit at work in our neighborhoods, The Christian Center is able to serve meals to many families in need throughout the year. With the only community dining room open seven days a week in Anderson, Indiana, The Christian Center served nearly 78,000 meals in 2008. Without your generous donations, we could not meet these needs. We desire your partnership to continue in this provision through your donations of any of the following food items, as often as you are able:
You can also give money for the purchase of food, or use scrip cards that benefit The Christian Center for your regular purchases. Some of our donors share from their gardens to help The Christian Center's food program needs.
Leftover food from church and civic gatherings is gratefully received at The Christian Center, and a number of churches prepare and serve dinners at The Christian Center on a regular basis. Additionally, we are happy to pick up reserve foods from restaurants and other food establishments in the area.
