
TCC gives vehicle to recent shelter graduateFriday, October 30, 2009Print this ArticleThose involved were unanimous in their decision to give the car to Daniel Troup, a recent graduate of the Men's Shelter Program and new part-time Food Service Coordinator for The Christian Center Dining Room. "It was an overwhelming majority [decision] among all the staff members," said Operations Manager Shayne Tacket. Mr. Troup had been a shelter resident at The Christian Center for four years, taking on duties above and beyond assigned tasks, managing meals, and helping with Men's Program chapel services throughout that time period. Upon his graduation, he had been finding alternative ways to work each day for over a month. Said Troup: "Before, I didn't go anyplace. [The car] has freed me up. It has been a fantastic blessing." The Through public support, The Christian Center serves the community with Men's Emergency and Recovery Shelter Programs, a Community Dining Room open to the public 7 days a week, and a Community Assistance Program that helps families with household goods, clothing, and furniture.
